JP Open Studios at the Loring-Greenough House: September 24 and 25

Saturday and Sunday, September 24 and 25 11am – 6pm

The Jamaica Plain Open Studios is an annual celebration of the arts in Jamaica Plain that gives the public and artists an opportunity to connect, converse and deal in art works. Please visit artists and enjoy their works in the historic setting of the Loring-Greenough House. There will be 10 artists exhibiting inside the house and 7 on the grounds. Join us!

Tuesday 9/28 screening at the Loring-Greenough House

Please join us on Tuesday, September 28th at 7:30 pm to enjoy our film series at the House!

This will be the last of the local film screenings at the LGH (new this season will be “People’s Cinema for 3rd Tuesday, Tuesday Night Club), so we decided to film the place itself. Join us on the lawn (if the weather is good) or in the cozy living room for some abstract short films by:

Stefan Grabowski Matt McWilliams Gordon Nelson Mariya Nikiforova Nicole Prowell Rob Todd.

The screening will be accompanied by delicious refreshments, flashlight walks through the house and maybe even a musical performance!

"Consume Conspicuously" – First Thursday Event December 3rd 6pm – 9pm

Drop by the Loring-Greenough House for this special First Thursday event from 6-9 pm which includes 8 artists, painting, photography, mixed media and more!

“Bad Art” at the Loring Greenough House, Tuesday, December 1, at 7:00 P.M.

Michael Frank, Chief Curator of the Museum of Bad Art, in Dedham, http://www.museumofbadart.org/, will talk about the Museum, its collection, and its relevance to modern art.  Stay on after the talk to meet the speaker who will be autographing copies of his book about the Museum.  Appropriate snacks.  Admission is four dollars.  Free to members of the Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club.

BY THE WATERS OF BOSTON – A night of film and video by Saul Levine and Adam Paradis

If you like challenging cinema and cozy atmosphere, we’d like to see you at the third monthly film screening at the Loring-Greenough House. The doors open at 7pm, and the show begins at 7:30. Admission is $4 (free for members). Bring a friend and pass it on.

LIGHT LICK BY THE WATERS OF BABYLON IN THE HOUR OF THE ANGELS 23.32min 16mm silent 18fps 2004 Part of a subseries within the LIGHT LICKS. This film was shot in Cambridge, MA and Jersey City, NJ. It was inspired by ancient apocalyptic poetry, the more recent poetry of Walt Whitman, Carlos Williams, Emily Dickinson, and Charles Reznikoff. There are views of the New York skyline and the Statue of Liberty in the hour of the Angels. Thanks to Nancy Golden.
