		<description><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.jphs.org/"></a>The <a title="Jamaica Plain Historical Society" href="http://www.jphs.org/">Jamaica Plain Historical Society</a> recently added a <a title="The Detestable Tea: The Greenough Family and the Boston Tea Party" href="http://jphs.squarespace.com/people/2005/3/14/the-detestable-tea-the-greenough-family-and-the-boston-tea-p.html">new article</a> to their archives, a wonderful lecture that took place here at the Loring-Greenough House. Learn about how the Boston Tea Party affected the Greenough family in 1773 with historian Peter Drummey, a Jamaica Plain resident and Librarian of the Massachusetts Historical Society where the Greenough family papers are housed.</p> <p>In 1773, brothers David and John Greenough found themselves embroiled in a bitter controversy, the boycott of tea imported by the East India Company that led to the Boston Tea Party. In December 1773, John Greenough, then a merchant, bought tea salvaged from the <em>William</em>, a ship that went ashore on Cape Cod.
