FIRST THURSDAYS is organized by JP Centre/South Main Streets. Each First Thursday of the month, more than two dozen businesses along Centre and South Streets are transformed into galleries featuring works from local artists. Open receptions at each location, from 6 – 8 PM, offer a chance to meet the artists, enjoy refreshments, and experience JP’s fabulous businesses in an entirely new light.

The series features writers of poetry, fiction, and literary nonfiction from eastern Massachusetts, with an emphasis on presenting local and emerging artists. Refreshments are served after the readings and everyone is encouraged to stay and chat with the readers.
