Chapter & Verse Literary Reading
Friday, April 7, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Please join us and the Jamaica Pond Poets for another evening of readings by local writers and poets. Chapter & Verse is an ongoing series that takes place at the historic Loring Greenough House once a month October through May.
Nicole Dutton’s work has appeared in Callaloo, Ploughshares, 32 Poems, Indiana Review and Salt Hill Journal. Her collection, If One of Us Should Fall, won the Cave Canem Poetry Prize. An MFA graduate from Brown University and recipient of several fellowships, Nicole was the inaugural poet laureate for Cambridge, Mass. She teaches in the Solstice Low-Residency MFA Program and is an editor at The Baffler and Transition Magazine.
Grey Held has spent 25 years in the corporate world, managing and mentoring teams and coordinating projects. He is a recipient of a NEA Fellowship in Creative Writing. Two books of his poetry have been published: Two-Star General (Brick Road Poetry Press in 2012) and Spilled Milk (Word Press in 2013). Grey works closely with the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs in Newton, MA to direct projects that connect contemporary poets (and their poetry) with a wider audience.
Jennifer Markell’s first poetry collection, Samsara, (Turning Point, 2014) was named a “Must-Read Book” by the Massachusetts Book Awards in 2015 and was a Finalist in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. Markell received the Barbara Bradley and Firman Houghton awards from the New England Poetry Club. Her work is included in numerous journals, including Consequence, Rhino, Tinderbox, and The Compassion Anthology.
Suggested donation: $5.00 or whatever you can afford. (We mean this. We would rather have you than your money.) Free refreshments are served.
Parking Information: The Loring-Greenough House has a parking lot, but four spaces are reserved for ZIP Cars. Please respect these spaces, and also please try not to park on the grass. There is nonrestricted street parking and a large, free public parking lot off Centre Street between Burroughs and Thomas Streets just a block from the Loring-Greenough House.
