Thank you for considering the Loring-Greenough House as a venue for your special occasion. Income from house rentals supports the preservation and maintenance of this important, historic 18th century Georgian mansion and heritage landscape in the heart of Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood.
The stewards of the house, the Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club, rent the house and grounds on a limited basis to encourage exposure to the property and to support preservation and outreach activities. Each function rental includes a complimentary annual membership in the Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club.
The first floor and grounds of the historic Loring-Greenough House are available for rental for all types of occassions, large affairs or intimate receptions. The House is situated on two acres of manicured lawns and gardens in the heart the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston. Steps away are Harvard University’s Arnold Arboretum and beautiful Jamaica Pond, both part of the “Emerald Necklace” park system, designed by Fredrick Law Olmsted.
If you are intrigued by historic settings, let the Loring-Greenough House be the site for your event. The house is ideal for small meetings, retreats, seminars, parties and other social or business events, as well as concerts. The House is also a wonderful setting for larger events and especially weddings. In fact, there are five churches within walking distance. This two acre oasis may just be the place you need to make your special event memorable.
The interior of the House is furnished as a gentleman’s country home, each room decorated in a different period of the House’s history. The Loring-Greenough House can accommodate 50 for a seated dinner or 60 for a stand-up buffet. The grounds are perfect for a lovely tented function and can accommodate up to 200 guests. The garden and the antique-filled interior provide attractive backdrops for photographs. We can help you contact the best local vendors directly in order to host a perfect event.
Though parking is limited to 15 cars on-site, additional parking is available at the Curtis Hall parking lot next door, on the street, and in nearby city lots. The Loring-Greenough House is easily reached by the MBTA’s #39 bus, a quick walk from the Orange line or a short ride from Boston’s Logan Airport. The first floor of the House is wheelchair accessible.
Private Event Rental Rates
Indoor/Outdoor Event:
- $2,850 rental and staff, $250 per hour after 8 hours
Indoor Only Event:
- $1,950 rental and staff, $200 per hour after 5 hours
Note: Occasionally, the Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club is able to extend to community members and organizations reduced rates for meetings and smaller functions.
