		<description><![CDATA[<p><strong><em>John Muratore, guitar, </em></strong></p> <p><strong>at Loring-Greenough House</strong></p> <p>John Muratore, classical guitar and Roberto Cassan, accordion will open the 11th season of <em>Sunday afternoon at the ‘Greenough House </em>concerts on Sunday, October 3 at 3:00 pm. at the historic Loring-Greenough House, 12 South Street, Jamaica Plain.  This historic setting is the perfect place to experience the subtle interplay of the two instruments as Muratore and Cassan combine the intimacy of chamber music with the spontaneity of jazz. The program will feature music from their new CD, <em>Domenie</em>, which includes a wide variety of musical genres, including classical, tango, folk and jazz. Traditional tangos such as “Milonga de mis Amores” and “El Choclo” as well as arrangements by Astor Piazzolla will be performed. Also arrangements of Claude Debussy&#8217;s piano music, Paraguayan dances and original music by Roberto Cassan..</p> <p>The series recreates the atmosphere of 18th and 19th century “musical afternoons” in the 1760 Loring-Greenough House on the first and third Sundays of each month, October through May. Tickets are available at the door: donation $15 ($10 seniors, students and JPTC members). Space is limited; reservations are suggested—call 617-524-3158 or email <em>lghouseconcerts@aim.com</em>. Afternoon tea follows the program.</p> <p><strong>John Muratore</strong> has performed as guitar soloist and chamber musician throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and Russia. He has performed with numerous chamber ensembles including Emmanuel Music, Alea III, the Spectrum Singers, the Mastersingers and Counterpoint.  Recent concerto appearances have been with the Vermont Symphony, Boston Chamber Orchestra and Symphony by the Sea, under the direction of Jonathan McPhee. The <em>Boston Globe</em> has described him as “a fleet-fingered and musicianly performer” and has characterized his playing as…”unleashing so many different varieties of tone and color in quick succession…a kind of aural iridescence.” John, whose live performances are often featured on WGBH Radio’s <em>Classical Performances</em> with host Richard Knisely, has recorded for Albany, Arabesque and Pont Neuf Records. His recent, critically-acclaimed solo CD, <em>Shadow Box</em>, has been hailed by Britain’s <em>Classical Guitar</em> magazine as “a fine recording,,,with serious intent”. <p><strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Roberto Cassan</strong>, accordionist, arranger and composer from Fanna, Italy. He started playing the accordion at the age of eight, playing and performing mostly Italian folk repertoire, and classical music. He moved to Boston in 1991 to attend Berklee, and has been living here since then, as a performing and recording artist. Comfortable in different styles of music, his most recent collaborations include, singer Lila Downs, harpist Maeve Gilchrist, folk Italian group Newpoly, guitarist John Muratore, Trio Nuevo and the present duo with Lia Davis.</p>
<p>Built in 1760, the Loring-Greenough House, a local landmark listed on the Massachusetts and National Registers of Historic Places, is located at 12 South Street (at the Civil War Monument) in Jamaica Plain, MA. It is owned and managed by the non-profit Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club, Inc. as a historic house museum and site for art and music presentations. The Loring-Greenough House is wheelchair accessible.
