John Muratore, guitar, at Loring-Greenough House

On Sunday, November 1, 2009, at 3:00 p.m., guitarist John Muratore will celebrate the music of the most notable Spanish guitarist/composer Francisco Tarrega (100th anniversary of his death), featuring Recuerdos de la Alhambra and Capricho Arabe, plus music of Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos (50th year since his passing in 1959) featuring some of his Preludes and the ever-popular Choros no. 1, Cuban guitarist/composer Leo Brouwer who turns 70 this year, selections from El Decameron Negro (based on African folklore) and the beautiful Un Dia de Noviembre, and works by Emilio Pujol and Astor Piazzolla, as thr November offering in the 10th season of Sunday afternoon at the ‘Greenough House concerts at the historic Loring-Greenough House, 12 South Street, Jamaica Plain.

The series recreates the atmosphere of 18th and 19th century “musical afternoons” in the 1760 Loring-Greenough House on the first Sunday of each month, October through May. Tickets are available at the door or via PayPal below: donation $17 ($12 seniors, students and JPTC members) which includes a “preservation fee” to support preservation projects at the landmark property.
