**POSTPONED** Celebrating the 300th Birthday of Commodore Joshua Loring

Celebrating the 300^th Birthday of
Commodore Joshua Loring!

Please join us at the Loring-Greenough House at 12 South Street in Jamaica Plain for these events this summer to commemorate the 300^th Birthday of Commodore Joshua Loring. The Commodore was born in Roxbury on August 4, 1716, built his homestead in 1760 and was forced to flee his home in 1774. His plans for a leisurely retirement were derailed by the American Revolution.  Although much attention has been paid to the heroes of the American Revolution, the Loring Greenough House will be presenting programs which highlight the turmoil and upheaval of life as a British Loyalist this summer.

Sunday August 14^th from noon to 4PM: “Fight or Flight”
Listen in as the Lorings examine their options and hurriedly prepare to depart – forever.  Discuss the politics of the day and bid in an auction of the Loring’s property and possessions as *revolutionary* citizens celebrate.  Free admission. Our thanks to Cobwebs for generous sponsorship of this event.
