Celebrating the 300th Birthday ofCommodore Joshua Loring!

Please join us at the Loring-Greenough House at 12 South Street in Jamaica Plain for these events this summer to commemorate the 300th Birthday of Commodore Joshua Loring. The Commodore was born in Roxbury on August 4, 1716, built his homestead in 1760 and was forced to flee his home in 1774. His plans for a leisurely retirement were derailed by the American Revolution. Although much attention has been paid to the heroes of the American Revolution, the Loring Greenough House will be presenting programs which highlight the turmoil and upheaval of life as a British Loyalist this summer.
On Saturday, June 25:
Noon to 4PM: “What’s Brewing”
Portrayed by Living Historians, Joshua and Mary Loring and their family, neighbors, friends, and children will mingle with visitors on the lawns. Listen in on a tea party, talk business with merchants and relations, try on authentic 18th-century clothing, and play games. Free admission.5:30 to 7:00 PM
Join Commodore and Mrs. Loring and family inside the Loring Greenough House while enjoying colonial food and libations accompanied by music. Tickets are $17.16 in advance on eventbrite, or $20.00 at the door. Our thanks to Privateer for generous sponsorship of this event.
