CHAPTER AND VERSE LITERARY READING SERIES

Readings, featuring an ever-changing array of well-known poets and writers, are followed by a reception, including refreshments and an opportunity to meet and talk with the readers, buy their books, and have them signed.

This week:

Steven Riel, David Goroff, Audrey Henderson

David Groff’s book of poems Clay was chosen by Michael Waters as winner of the Louise Bogan Award and published in 2013 by Trio House Press. His previous collection, Theory of Devolution, published in 2002 by the University of Illinois Press, was selected by Mark Doty for the National Poetry Series. Both books were finalists for the Lambda Literary Award. David received his MFA from the Iowa Writers Workshop and his MA in English from the University of Iowa. He is an independent book editor and teaches in the M.F.A. creative writing program of the City College of New York.

Audrey Henderson was a 2014 Hawthornden Fellow and a finalist for the 2014 Homebound Publications Poetry Prize. Her manuscript Airstream was published in November. Her poems have most recently appeared or are appearing in Magma, The Midwest Quarterly and Tar River Poetry.  She was a finalist in the Indiana Review 1/2 K Award and won second place in the River Styx International Poetry Contest. She is a 2015 Pushcart Prize nominee and was a finalist the 2014 Slapering Hol Chapbook Contest. She is originally from Scotland where she was a contributor to BBC Radio Scotland.

Steven Riel is the author of one full-length collection of poetry, Fellow Odd Fellow, published by Trio House Press in 2014, as well as three chapbooks: How to Dream, The Spirit Can Crest, and most recently, Postcard from P-town, which was selected as runner-up for the inaugural Robin Becker Chapbook Prize and published by Seven Kitchens Press. His poems have appeared in several anthologies and in numerous periodicals, including The Minnesota Review and International Poetry Review. In 2005, Christopher Bursk named him the Robert Fraser Distinguished Visiting Poet at Bucks County (PA) Community College.
